2019 Westminster National LEAGUE RULES
PLAY WILL BEGIN AT 5PM FOR THE FIRST TWO WEEKS!
FEES:
Entrance fee: $35/person ($70/team) Greens Fees: $12.00/person Cart Fees: $8.00/person
TIME:
Shotgun start at 5:30 p.m. each night, beginning April 18th. Some tees may have two groups depending on how many teams sign up
SCORING:
The league will be scored as Team Match Play. This format will be based on 11 points available per team member and 22 points available per team per week system. One point will be awarded for each hole won for a total of 9 points, while one additional point will be awarded for the most holes won and one point will be awarded for the low net of each team member’s match. Net score is determined by taking your gross score and subtracting your Handicap. This year your individual points will also be kept throughout the year for a chance to win two individual awards.
HANDICAPS:
Everything is computerized this year through a new league management software program using USGA rules and handicap. Everyone’s handicap will carry over from last year’s league. If you are new to league and don’t have a handicap, one will be figured for you after the first week of league play.
NOTE:
THE MAX HANDICAP IS 20. HANDICAP IS CALCULATED AFTER TWO ROUNDS. AFTER FOUR ROUNDS. ONE HIGH SCORE AND ONE LOW SCORE WILL BE DROPPED. WE WILL USE YOUR BEST FIVE SCORES OUT OF THE LAST SIX GAMES PLAYED.
There will be no Fishing prior to, during, or after your round!
SUBSTITUTES:
Substitutes will be handicapped the first evening they sub. If a substitute doesn’t have an 18-hole score on file with Westminster National, we will take their nine-hole score and multiply it by two to get an-18 hole score. Once we have an 18-hole score, we will subtract the course rating from the score. That number will be multiplied by 113. That number will then be divided by the course slope to come up with the handicap for that player.
We are working on getting more subs added to the sub list. Last year we had a few people that were available every night; hopefully, we can make that grow.
Example: Joe plays the front nine at Westminster National and shoots a 45. *No 18 Hole score on File*
45×2 = 90 for 18 holes.
90-68.3 Course Rating from Whites = 21.7
21.7 x 113 = 2452.1
2452/117 Course Slope from Whites = 20.95
So Joe would have a 21 Handicap for 18 Holes so he would receive 11 strokes during league play
***MAKE UP ROUNDS***: NO MAKE UP ROUNDS You may have a sub fill in for you! If you don’t show up you will receive NO POINTS your opponent will receive an extra two storks to their handicap for having to play against the course.
SCORE KEEPING:
Score cards will be prepared in advance by the Club each week. If a substitute is used, it is the responsibility of the golfers to adjust the card, including who is the A or B player. AFTER PLAY, CARDS MUST BE TURNED INTO THE PRO SHOP FOR RECORD KEEPING. Each team is responsible for tabulating their scores.
PLEASE TOTAL YOUR SCORECARDS EVERY NIGHT
CASH ONLY GAMES!
SKINS – $5.00 Per Night (Optional) (CASH Only). Once scores have been entered into the computer, it will determine how much each skin is worth and who won skins.
~Skins will be determined by your Gross Score on a hole.
~A list of people who won skins will be posted the following week along with how much they won
~Skins will be paid out the following week
~A and B Flights will be in the same pot of money for skins.
MONEY POT – Each week there will also be an optional CASH game for the league members to play. The cost will be $1.00 per night. This cash will go toward a closest to the pin prize and a sleeve of golf balls. These pots will be separated into A flight and B flight.
PAR 3’S – Each night there will be one closest to the pin on the front and one closest to the pin on the back. The winner will receive a sleeve of Pro V1’s. No cost to enter this game.
PLAYING RULES:
1. Winter rules will be used in the fairway and rough only: you can roll your ball to improve your lie, but no more than 1 club length, and no closer to the hole. IF YOU’RE BEHIND A TREE YOU MAY STILL ROLL THE BALL 1 CLUB LENGTH BUT THE TREE MUST STAY BETWEEN YOU AND THE HOLE.
2. All other local and PGA rules will be observed.
3. Out of bounds (indicated by white stakes) will be assessed a penalty of stroke and distance. (Example: if hitting off the tee and you go out of bounds, you would re-hit from the tee, and be laying 3, wherever your 2nd tee shot goes.) If thought to be out of bounds, always hit a provisional ball. If out of bounds, and a provisional ball was not hit, drop a ball in bounds and take a 2-stroke penalty, instead of returning to original place where ball was hit.
4. The maximum score on a hole is double par THIS KEEPS PLAY MOVING
5. Anyone over the age of 60 may play from the Senior (Gold) Tees, however, they must do so all season long, due to handicapping purposes.
PLAYOFFS:
Around week 20, there will be a position event where the 1st place team plays the 2nd place team and so on. Positions are determined by the total team points since the first week of league. The top three teams in each flight will win a prize.
RAIN POLICY: The league will not be canceled until 4:30 p.m. on the day of the match. Six holes constitute a complete match. All matches canceled will not be made up.
A vs B NIGHT: Approximately four times during league, you will play another team from the opposite division. Points will be awarded as normal. If there are rain outs then this will be the first weeks to be eliminated from the schedule.
